| A word from.... I guess you would say I had a rather "ordinary" life before I was saved. God graced me and my siblings with Godly parents who taught us to love God's Word and they faithfully took us to church. From a very early age I was drawn to the huge family Bible at my grandmother's home and I wondered about the great heroes pictured in those pages. My mother died when I was 12 and I began to question the meaning of life and death. I had joined the church by then, and Christian teachers and friends comforted our family during this loss. God seemed to wrap His arms of love around me then. Our grandmother came to live with us and helped Daddy provide stability for us 4 youngsters. I can remember growing up that Daddy studied the Bible, and he influenced me greatly. He encouraged me to always look to God and referred me to Philippians 4:8: "Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think about these things. This passage has helped me throughout my life. Although I had joined the church at an early age, I was not saved or born again until I was about 20. I had gone to a revival on the college campus and the words spoken by the evangelist convicted me and I realized I was a sinner who needed forgiveness, and I needed to repent of my sins and follow Christ. I have certainly sinned after being saved, but I also know that these sins can be forgiven, as well, because of God's Grace and great love for me. Since I was saved, my life has been changed because I know that God loves me and I know I will be with Him forever because of what Christ did for me. I will continue to strive to be more like Jesus and I pray for His guidance each day. I depend on Him to order my steps as I seek His will. I have inherited a great influence from my earthly parents and ancestors and an eternal inheritance because of Jesus. My prayer is that I will live my life in such a way that my children and grandchildren will want to follow Jesus. Another passage - Romans 8:38-39 talks about eternal security as well: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord". God intervened in my life to save me. He has been with me through the loss of my parents, relatives, and my husband, and there is no telling how many times He has rescued me from perilous situations. He's a Great God! | |
